How To Create A Pretty Boho Surfer Girl Birthday Party

I love to create a fun birthday celebration and making guests feel so special. I loved designing this 18th birthday party for our dear family friend. This is such a fun boho surfer theme and the color scheme was so soft and sophisticated looking. Here are the details to create this fun theme.

Theme

I created this theme because the birthday girl recently learned how to surf and loves neutral colors and organic looking decor. So the boho surfer girl theme came to my head. I wanted to give this an organic and neutral  feel. Something soothing, feminine and soft but not overly girly. The organic elements of the table made this a casual yet chic vibe.

Color Scheme

I started with natural tones of jute, bamboo and rattan. Then incorporated soft blush and rusty tones for some added color. Dried palms, pampas grass and green palms made a perfect color combo with the beautiful flowers.

Party Favors

One of my favorite things to do for party’s is create a fun party favor for the guests. I also like to incorporate them into the tablescape to complete the look. These little gable boxes are perfect to fill with all kinds of goodies. Then I just embellish them with various flowers and ribbon.

They also make great place card for the place settings . I just make labels and fun sayings on my computer and print them off at home. Usually the saying is a hint to what’s inside the favor box. For this party, I added the birthday girls favorite candy.

Place Settings

For the place settings I started with the rattan placemats, layered on a pretty palm leaf and then some disposable bamboo plates. I just love the organic feel of the plates and wanted easy care and cleanup. I originally was going to use pink linen napkins, but decided to go with a natural napkin and flatware that would also be disposable.

Centerpiece

For the centerpiece, I used a wood stand for the base and then created an arrangement with flowers, dried palms, babies breath and candles. I kept it low so that guests could see each other over the center.  I also created a focal wall by covering the china cabinet with a painters drop cloth. I had a pretty balloon arch made and created this pretty sign on the computer. Then, I tucked in a few flowers, pampas grass and some dried palms to mimic the table centerpiece.

Cake

For the cake, I bought a 3 layer plain cake then added my own embellishments to it. I ordered the personalized surfboard and eighteen along with edible flowers and leaves to dress it up. To create a sand look, I sprinkled on some brown sugar around the base and on the top. It was pretty easy and felt more customized for the birthday girl. I love the simplicity of it and she loved the whole look!

Overall it was such a wonderful celebration and the birthday girl loved every detail. I loved making her feel special and capturing all of her favorite things. Since we also had her dad and brother’s there, I wanted to be sure it was still comfortable for them and this theme worked out perfectly.
