Entertaining season is upon us and I’m here for it. When I saw the new holiday collection from Target I couldn’t wait to create this festive table. I had Christmas morning breakfast in mind and found so many cute things that were perfect for my vision.

When I’m designing a tablescape, I have a few elements I focus on to create the look I want. This guideline is a great checklist when styling tables. I loved working with Target on this sponsored project and couldn’t wait to set the new Hearth and Hand holiday collection on this table. All links will be provided throughout as well as at the end.

Theme/Color scheme

Decorating for a particular holiday of course is a great place to start when setting up the theme. However, there are so many directions you can take a Christmas table. So, it’s a little easier if you decide what the event is going to be such as a small intimate party, a brunch etc. For this table, I set it for a Christmas morning breakfast. 

This look would really work for any Christmas gathering. It’s festive, casual and cozy. You can change the look and make it more formal as well. I love to add pops of black on my tablescapes. It’s kind of my signature look. 

Centerpiece

What you style in the center of the table can be simple or elaborate depending on the space you have to work with. Sometimes I base the whole table around the centerpiece and sometimes I create the place settings first. I wanted to create a cozy vibe and this gorgeous cable knit runner from the Target Hearth and Hand collection was perfect as the base. I fell in love with this gorgeous candelabra it is not only festive, but it provides another element I always incorporate, ambiance with candlelight.

The cedar stems from the Hearth and Hand collection look so real and were perfect for adding a natural element to the table. That’s another thing I include when table styling, some type of natural greenery or floral item. Target really stepped up their game on the Christmas greenery and garland this year.

Place Settings

The entertaining collection at Target this year is so on point. I love these tartan melamine plates. The pattern is perfect for combining with the stripped placemats and napkins. Mixing patterns and textures creates dimension and gives a unique look to your table. The fun napkin rings are perfect for giving a festive flare. My favorite item is the little tree accent plates. They are perfect for entertaining and layering on place settings.

I found the little black trees in the Target dollar spot. I can always count on finding the cutest little items for my holiday tables in the dollar section. Look for small, simple  and festive items to place on the plate as a little gift or place card setting item. You can write each persons name on them or tie a tag .

There are so many fun options for styling the perfect holiday table at Target. Stock up on basics then grab some fun accent items like patterned napkins and plates. Ornaments make great table decor as well, so be sure to visit the festive holiday sections in your Target store as well.
