Happy February and month of love. Although I don’t really get too into Valentine’s Day decor, I love any excuse to create a fun and festive table. This year I didn’t have the time to run out and find all new decor and decided to keep it simple and use what I already have. I also wanted a neutral French vibe, oohh la la….
This table isn’t your traditional red and pink overload, super frilly or fufu. It has a more simplistic, romantic and chic vibe. When I set a table I have a few basics I always use to help me design it.
Element 1 Centerpiece
To create the centerpiece I made a super easy runner. I placed a roll of white paper down the center of the table and used black craft paint to add large X’s and O’s in a fun pattern. I love the casual elegance it gave the base of the table. Then I staggered 5 tall candlesticks on the runner varying the heights then added battery operated candles for ambiance.
For pretty texture and fresh color I layered 3 different types of greenery stems weaving in and out of the candlesticks.
Element 2 Place Settings
The place settings are my favorite way to bring in the theme of the table, I love to add layers and a mix of textures and patterns. First, I started with a black linen charger, a black dinner plate and a pretty accent plate. The black charger and plate serve as the perfect backdrop for the sweet accent plate. I folded the napkins into an envelope fold and tucked in a little love note inside. To seal the envelope and add more embellishment I made small heart stickers with scrapbook paper.
Element 3 Party favor trinket
I love to add a little trinket or gift to place settings for family and guests. I think it adds a fun bit of character and element of surprise to the table.
Cute little chalkboard signs with sweet sayings are a special touch for each place setting. I also added a little vase with some greenery
