It’s almost Fall, y’all and I am so excited. There’s just something wonderful about the warm, cozy vibes of the season. I really love to make our home a place of joy and comfort and the warm tones of Autumn really create that feel for me. This year is all about texture and how to mix a neutral pallet to actually feel colorful. I went to Target to see what the fall home decor trends are and wow what a beautiful selection they had in everything from pillows and blankets to pumpkins and more.
Creating a look or a vignette is all about putting a collection of items together. Pieces that are cohesive and tell a story together. Each item makes up a character of your story. Here are some of my tips for telling a beautiful fall story.
I like to start with a statement piece or backdrop item. This large preserved wheat wreath is so beautiful and a perfect piece to create a backdrop for the rest of your decor. This would be beautiful over a mantel or on a front door as well.
Contain it. Trays and vases are perfect items for housing decorative elements like foliage, gourds and pumpkins. Target has a beautiful collection of vase options that have that artisan vibe like this rust colored ceramic vase. I love that it looks like and old found item. I filled it with simple branches of leaves. Cluster a few stems of the same plant to give it a fuller look.
Bring in the scents of the season with a fragrant candle. Target has a great selection of Fall scented candles for every vibe. I like this Old Fashioned Pumpkin scented candle It has such a classic fall fragrance, not too sweet but just like a cool Fall day. I thought this pretty wood stand was perfect to hold the candle to give it some additional height.
Add some decorative accents. I absolutely love using warm wood elements in arrangements and this wood leaf shaped tray is gorgeous. It has such a unique shape and the natural wood is perfect for serving on a table or filled with small pods or pumpkins.
I also love these textured jute pumpkins. Target has a great variety of various shapes and textures. The secret is to vary the textures, colors and sizes and group them as a collection together.
Incorporate textiles like throw blankets and pillows. I love to bring out the cozy blankets like this sweater knit style in soft mustard. Textures really create the cozy, cuddle up feel that Fall is so known for. You can fold them in baskets or lay them over the back of a chair or sofa.
When arranging all your items vary heights and shapes filling in gaps and balancing your height
I married the two spaces together using to different sizes of the rust colored vases and spread out the items to tell a complete story together. I love how the lighter pottery and wood tones pop against the black. All the textures and colors work cohesively together and still have their own spotlight as part of the story as a whole.
