Happy October and month of Fall vibes. This time of year I love the cozy warm tones of the season and all the comfy layers and textures. For this table I really wanted an understated and cozy feel. So in this post I’m sharing my tips on how to create a beautiful neutral fall table.
If you’ve followed me a while you’ll know I love a good table scape. Sometimes I love to add lots of details and fun elements, but some gatherings call for a more simple feel, especially with this crazy year we’ve been through. I’ve also found that sometimes people have a hard time knowing when to stop adding things and end up overdoing the look. To help avoid that, here are my tips for creating a cozy neutral table
Neutral Color Pallet
When creating a more simple look, stick with a very monochromatic color scheme with neutral tones like, black, white, cream, taupe and natural tones. You can easily layer them because of their cohesiveness. For example the natural background frames the creme colored plate and the accent plate still falls into the neutral color scheme.
Adding Textures and Layers
To frame the place setting I layered 2 different textures in the same color tones. A jute place mat with loops and and simple burlap charger work together because of their monochromatic tones. The textures together create a cozy background and a perfect base to frame out the plates.
Simple Accents
Instead of adding a fancy napkin fold or dressing up the layers, stay with a simple plain napkin and give it some personality with a pretty napkin ring. I love the additional texture this faux yarrow gives to the plain napkin. Another nice option would be wood or jute . However, the soft mustard gives it a subtle pop and brings out the mellow color in the plates without overpowering it.
Understated Centerpiece.
Sometimes a table calls for a wow factor centerpiece, but not always. Just taking in the elements of Fall with some simple wheat and a white pumpkin resting on a jute runner is just enough to bring in the seasonal twist without looking too heavy or taking over the table.
Creating a cozy table is really quite simple and can be the perfect way to enjoy a calm, relaxing meal. There is something nice about understated pieces with texture and layers without all the fuss.
