How Create A Beautiful Look Alike Valentine’s Day Wreath

I love a good dupe, and finding ways to recreate something at a lower price. This project was a challenge and I love how it turned out. I saw this wreath on the Anthropologie website but didn’t want to pay the price. So, I searched the craft store for ways I could duplicate the same look. Check out the details below. Here is the inspiration wreath I found. It’s made from metal pieces and I love the look of the various textures and shapes. However, finding metal pieces like this was really tough so I opted for items that looks similar when sprayed with a metallic paint.

Supplies:

  • Wire coat hanger
  • Flowers with a stiff texture. I used wood flowers
  • Fern sprigs
  • Berries
  • Rustoleum hammered metal spray paint
  • Rustoleum mettalic gold spray paint
  • Hot glue

Step 1

Shape the coat hanger into a heart shape. I ended up cutting the hanging part off. You could keep it on if you want and just cover it with more flowers.

Step 2

Arrange the items how you want them to look on the wreath. Then hot glue them on allowing some of the base to show. The idea is to look like the items are all part of the metal heart base. Allow some space but create small clusters varying the textures and shapes.

Step 3

Spray paint the hammered metal paint first to create a base undertone. Then mist with the metallic gold once the first layer is dry.

It was so simple and I love how it turned out

I love this! Crazy how it starts with a cheap dry cleaning hanger and literally looks as good as Anthropologie’s!
