How To Make Patriotic Dinner Plate Chargers

I love a good table especially for the 4th of July. Aside from Thanksgiving and Christmas, this holiday is a big one for entertaining and I know this year we are all about celebrating. Sometimes it can be hard to find unique patriotic table decor. I had a vision for a table and couldn’t find what I needed so I decided to make my own chargers. This is a super easy way to customize chargers for a table scape.

Supplies :

  • Inexpensive plastic charger plates. You can find them at dollar stores or most craft stores.
  • Fabric of your choice. Usually the fabric or craft stores have a large variety fo calico cotton prints 1 1/2 yards should be plenty depending on your charger size.
  • Bottle of Mod Podge (found at most craft stores)
  • Trim of your choice- I used rope cording found at the fabric store.
  • Scissors
  • Foam brush
  • Glue gun

Step 1

Trace the pattern with the charger. I doubled up the fabric to cut more at one time. You can do all the same pattern or mix up your prints like I did.

Step 2

Brush a thin layer of Mod Podge onto the the charger plate.

Step 3

Lay the cut fabric piece on top of the charger and smooth out. Then brush on another layer of the Mod Podge on tope of the fabric. Be sure to smooth out any bumps or wrinkles.

Step 4

Once your plate has dried, hot glue the trim around the outer edge. If there is any fabric overlap, you can use your scissors to trim the excess off first.

Then set your table and enjoy. I loved creating this table scape of mixed patterns and prints in the red, white and blue color scheme. You can get more 4th of July table ideas here How To Create an Easy And Festive Fourth Of July Tablescape
