There is no doubt, we all had a lot more time on our hands at home in 2020. With the news of a pandemic and stay at home orders, many people focused on making improvements to their home and got really creative. I will say that is one thing I enjoyed, the opportunity to focus on our home and creative opportunities. This year I completed several simple DIY crafty decor projects and these are my favorite. I hope they inspire you to add some fun updates and decor items to your own home.
I love creating and making home decor items. Especially when they a simple and affordable. Here are some of my favorite craft projects of 2020.
Project #1 Spring wreaths
I’m not quite sure why I felt the need to create 3 Spring wreaths but I had a collection of thought in my head and I think this was the best way to use that creative energy. Project #2 Marble Easter Eggs
I was looking for something unique to add to a bowl for my spring vignettes and decided to try out this marble finish for Easter eggs. I just love how they turned out and the look of the black against all the pretty spring colors on my decor. These are faux eggs so I’m excited to get them out again this year. Project #3 How to Create An Artisan Stone Look
Artisan pottery was all the rage last year and has come on strong again for this year as well. However, they can be very expensive. I decided to try creating a similar look using an old glass vase I already had and I’m so happy with how it turned out. If you are wanting to add a fun trendy piece to your decor without the expensive, this is a great project to try.
Project #4 Fairy Garden
This is such a fun project to welcome in Spring. It’s a fun one to do with kiddos too. They can learn all about gardening and use their own creativity to design it. In addition, they can learn how to care for plants and show off their beautiful creation. If you have limited space for a pretty garden or plants, making a fairy garden is another beautiful way to add some whimsey to your patio or porch. How To Create A Fairy Garden
Project #5 Homemade beauty gifts
I love to make homemade gifts and the packaging is my all time favorite. Creating beautiful beauty products is a great way to save money and personalize a gift for friends, and family. Project #6 Table Top Succulent Garden
This project was so easy and I love how it turned out. I had it on my patio all summer and it added such a unique look to our outdoor table decor. I used faux succulents for it however, you can easily use real plants. They are so easy to care for and inexpensive. Project # 7 Concrete Fire Bowl
This my friends was my favorite project of all last year. It was a little more of a challenge becauase I’ve never made anything with concrete before. But wowza is it a beauty and I love the ambiance it gave on summer nights. Working with the concrete was a little intimidating but overall it wasn’t too difficult. Project #8 Concrete Stand
Ok obviously I caught the concrete bug. Once I made the fire bowl I was really wanting to try another project. I kept seeing these cute concrete stools in photos but they were so expensive. Project #9 Wood Candlesticks
I recruited my hubby to help with this one. I thought it would be fun to make my own candlestick stands using a variety of wood spindles and trim pieces. There are so many great ways to style these. I had a vision to make a pretty fall arrangement and they were the perfect base to start with. Project #10 Succulent Pumpkin Arrangement
I really wanted a unique display using a pumpkin so decided to try using succulents. the colors and textures are all so unique and put together in an arrangement really look great.
