Hi friends, as I type this we are one week away from Christmas. Wow doesn’t the Christmas season whiz by? Hopefully you aren’t too stressed and are pacing yourself to what is your comfort level. If you are serving Christmas dinner or entertaining this week, I’m sharing a few simple tablescape ideas to help you out or give a little inspiration…
So, are you entertaining for Christmas eve, or Christmas day? If so, here are a few options for you to choose from that are simple and not too formal. You can take a few ideas from each one or mix and match.
This first setting is a Winter wonderland theme with a simple color pallet of white and green.
First I started with this knit runner. It is neutral and has a wonderful texture to it. Another option would be to use a simple scarf or blanket. For the centerpiece, I used a white cake plate to elevate this beautiful live fresh greenery arrangement. You can make your own by gathering pine greenery from your yard or a local nursery and arrange them in a florist block. Or you can arrange the greenery (real or faux) in a glass bowl and center a candle in the middle.
For the place settings I started with a faux pine place mat, added my everyday dishes then topped it with these beautiful pine salad plates (from Pier 1 imports). Then I used neutral napkins in a natural shade and pine napkin rings from Target. You could also make these using a pipe cleaner and gluing some faux pine sprigs to it.
Then to finish off the look I placed these mini pine trees purchased from the Target dollar section to use as name or placecard stands. You can find varieties of mini trees in many dollar sections of craft or dollar stores.

The next setting is a traditional red and white festive table using whites and pops of beautiful red. I used the same knit runner and placed some fresh poinsettia as the center piece. Then tied 2 red satin bows leaving the tails long to trail down the center of the table.
The place settings are layered and I added a fun plate with a pop of red. Any plate with a Christmas scene or saying with red accents would work. For the napkin rings I used mini wreaths to add more greenery and tie in the placemats. The tartan chargers give the traditional feel and festive flare to the look

Another fun look is similar to the first but using a black and white theme with pops of greenery. Same table runner and centerpiece as well as the pine placemats. But, I added black candle sticks to bring more black into the look. What makes it more whimsical and fun is the mix of prints and the reindeer salad plates.
I love mixing patterns and prints and used a large buffalo check charger and a smaller check napkin to anchor the fun plates. You could also add some large black letters at each place setting, the letter for the guests first name.

This next theme is a bit more formal and dramatic with lush faux greenery down the center of the table and mini battery operated lights to give it some sparkle. It has a more traditional Christmas feel to it.
For the place settings, again I used the pine place mats then brought in some traditional tartan plaid . Then I added a festive napkin to mix the patterns and tied a sprig of greenery & a cinnamon stick for fragrance. Another fun thing to add for a Christmas table are the English traditional “cracker”. Our family looks forward to snapping open the little packages to find a surprise inside.
For this final setting, I switched out the formality for some whimsey and fun by adding these mini gingerbread houses on cupcake stands.
For the place settings I took the plaid chargers out and added a snowflake mat . Then I placed the cupcake stand in the center of a mini wreath.
For the centerpiece I added gingerbread houses on the cake plate and surrounded them with faux snow then placed mini white houses with tea lights down the center. This would be a fun table for kids to help with and they can decorate their own little house.

Hopefully you were able to get some inspiration for your own celebrations or can take away an idea or two. As always if you have any questions, please ask. I love hearing from you and your feedback so take a look around and comment where you’d like. I appreciate you all and your support. I wish you a very Merry Christmas and hope that you enjoy this beautiful season with your loved ones.
