It’s not quite Spring, but at some point you just get tired of winter. I wanted to lighten things up a bit but I wasn’t quite ready for bunnies and pastels. I really wanted a classic, transitional look to last a few weeks that would go with our current decor. I love it so. much I feel like I could keep it up and to get tired of it. Here are some tips on how to create this look.
Centerpiece
I started by adding a crisp linen runner down the center to add a cozy vibe and hint of Spring. To ground all the items I placed a large wood cutting board on the runner. You could also use a tray or shallow basket. Then I added 2 varying heights of pottery in black. I added some pretty green leafy stems and soft white, delicate flowers that will carry the table into Spring. I always love adding candles to give ambiance and character to the table.
I’m really enjoying these battery operated taper candles around the house. They are not only safer, but there’s no dripping or fragrance, to compete when serving food.
Place Settings
For the place settings I kept things simple using contrasting layers. I started with a warm wood charger to ground the look and add warmth. Then I added a pop of black with the dinner plate and a crisp white linen napkin. For texture, I used a rattan napkin ring and fanned out the napkin to create fullness. Finally, I added a sprig of greenery from the stems in the vase.
I love the effortless vibe and fresh feel this table has. Because of it’s simplicity, I won’t tire of it and know it will be the perfect flow into Spring decor. Sometimes keeping it simple and allowing the pieces to coordinate with the rest of your decor keeps things from feeling overwhelming and cluttered, especially on a tablescape.
What’s also great is that this table could turn into full on spring by adding colorful florals and some bunnies or eggs. Switching out the napkins and adding an accent plate could take this table right into Spring or Easter.
Now where’s that Spring weather? I’m ready to see those trees spring with color and the sun to shine!
