There’s nothing more beautiful than freshly cut Christmas greenery to dress up your home, but sheesh is it messy. I love the look but not the dried out needles everywhere. My goal was to make the greenery in my home look as real as possible and I wanted a lush natural texture that had a rustic chic feel. Here are the elements that I used to create this rustic mantel look.
I really wanted a neutral color scheme this year with soft creamy whites, and pops of gold and black. I love how soothing this look feels in our home and it looks so cozy with the added twinkle lights. Here are the 5 elements I added to create this Festive mantel.
Greenery
I started by adding 4 small nails in the mantel to anchor the 2 large 6′ strands of garland. I love this realistic lush faux cedar garland. Start by placing each strand starting in the middle and draping down to the outer edges.
Extra Greenery Pieces
To add more fullness and texture I added the extra stems of a different variety cedar. Then to add more volume, I filled in with seeded eucalyptus stems letting them flow out the sides and hanging down a bit to give a swag like shape. For a pop of color I added some white berries in the center.
Pretty accents
I wanted a little shimmer and gold creates such a beautiful shimmer when set agains green. I hung the stand of bells from a nail on each side to give some shine to the sides I love the additional texture and bling it adds to the mantel’s overall look
Lighting
The best part of Christmas decor is the glow of the lights at night. To create a warm cozy glow I popped in some battery operated candles in a variety of heights. What’s great is that they are on timers so they come on right in time for the evening glow. For additional shimmer these beautiful dainty fairy lights also on a timer give just the right amount of sparkle.
Above The Mantel Decor
There are so many options for accenting above the mantel. I just love our round mirror and have really enjoyed dressing it up for the various seasons. This year I created a beautiful swag with a variety of greens to coordinate with the greenery on the mantel. But my favorite things is the White reindeer peeking over the mirror. This was a paper mache deer I found at a craft store and painted white then for some sparkle, I added some gold glitter.
Stockings
For the final touch I hung some super cozy cable knit stockings in a creamy white to bring out the white in the deer and the berries. I like how they balance out the whites against all the greenery. That knitted texture is perfect for giving the cozy vibes.
Don’t you just love the vibe Christmas decor adds to your home. It always makes me want the season to last a little bit longer. There’s something about cuddling up with the lights on the greenery and the warm textures of the season.
