How To Create A Planter With An Old Pallet

Hey y’all, how about another super simple outdoor project? This one is crazy easy and so impactful for a large bare space. We did this super easy project in half a day and I’m so happy with how it turned out!

We are in the process of fixing up our shed (currently called “the Beer Barn”) its a great hangout spot inside but was lacking in a little personality on the out side. Our plan is to paint it to match the house, add a planter box and shutters to the little window. But we had this huge bare spot that I wanted to give a little texture and style to. We had this old pallet laying around left over from a sod project so we decided to put it to good use.

First, we attached it to the siding of the shed. Then purchased these plant holder brackets and attached them to the pallet. We did an odd amount and only did the 3 inside boards.

Then, I spray painted terra cotta pots black in a gloss finish. Once they were dry, I planted a variety of succulent plants to give all that fun texture and interest. They are also low maintenance plants especially with our Texas heat. Y’all they have already doubled in size the first week, so I think they are happy there!

I love that it has beauty and elegance with the crisp black pots and colorful plants, yet remains rustic with the distressed pallet. Just the perfect combo for our little “Beer Barn”

I loved how quick and easy this project was. Really not much skill involved just a little planning. The combination of the various plants makes this whole look so fun. I’d love to hear your thoughts and please feel free to ask any questions. Thanks for following along, I always appreciate my followers and that you take the time to read my posts! Below are some sources for bracket options.

Can’t believe it only took you half a day, it looks amazing for how much time it took. The black pots really make the color in the plants stand out. We have an old pallet lying around which I haven’t known what to do with but this gives me some good ideas, thank you!
