Hey friends, I hope all is well. I want to first start by just saying how saddened I am about the current state of our country. It’s heartbreaking and time for change. I don’t usually bring up current events but also wanted to acknowledge that I see it. This is meant to be a positive, uplifting and inspiring space to be I don’t want to use it as a platform for anything more than that. Summertime is finally upon us and after the past few months we could all use some joy and light hearted inspiration. I created this beautiful lemon summer table with what I think is the most cheerful natural element, lemons!
I kept this table setting simple and fresh by using neutral black and white, with some pops of greenery. For the centerpiece, I placed a long lemon paper runner I bought at a little shop a few years ago. Any lemon printed fabric or wrapping paper would work. Then I laid a long piece of loose garland weaving it down the table center on top of the runner. I kept my everyday candle holders for more height and added pops of black. To bring in some of the check, I tied a gingham wired ribbon around them.
In the very center I placed two more bunches of greenery the opposite direction. I thought these looked similar to lemon leaves and they made a perfect “nest” to place the lemons in.
I also tucked in real lemons and these pretty daffodils given to me for a birthday gift.
For the place settings I started with a burlap placemat to add some warmth and texture. The popped in a black charge and my everyday dinner plates. These plate were purchased at Hobby Lobby a few years ago and are no longer available but I will link some similar ones for you at the end of the post.
For the napkins I used a check napkin and folded it into a big square. Then just pinch the middle at the top and let it hang like a handkerchief. once you have that loose hanging shape, slide it through your napkin ring. The cute napkin holders were recently purchased at Hobby Lobby in their summer section. But they would be very easy to make as well.
I love the fresh simplicity of this table and the effortless feel, just like summertime.
