My Fall Home Decor Tour

IMG_2475-1640393129-1505763145553.jpg

Do you get excited for seasonal changes, and the opportunity to jazz up your decor? Oh, yes…that’s me BIG time! There’s just something refreshing about a new season. In one way I hate to say goodbye to summer, longer days, lazy dazy attitude..sigh, but I’m ready for some cooler weather and a new routine! To me, Fall is the introduction to the holiday season. The stores are filled with Halloween, Thanksgiving & Christmas decor and that’s when the creative juices wake up and start going for me. Bring on the Holidays my decor freak friends!!…

I thought it would be fun to give a little tour of my home and maybe some inspiration. A few of the same spaces have been styled different ways as well. If you know me, you’ll know nothing stays in its place very long! Everything gets a chance to be the star any given day at my house!

I will place some sources below photos.

LIVING ROOM

Since we have only been in our home a few months, each season brings new excitement, different spaces to decorate, changes in how to place things and all the decor looks brand new when it has a fresh home to settle in. The anticipation of what to do for the holidays is so exciting, yet challenging. When you’ve been in a home for a while, you can get stuck doing the same thing year after year, am I right friends? You purchase items to go in a certain place and it’s just easier to do what has always been done, rather than to rethink it all.

As itchy as I am to get going, this new space will be a big challenge…so I say bring it, I’m ready!

The entryway is part of the great room. So to give it its own little spotlight, I just gathered a few pumpkins and placed them with crates to frame and anchor the front door. This year I’m loving the neutral pumpkins with the pops of black I have in my home. It’s a nice transition from summer to fall. Once October arrives, I’ll start adding more color and Halloween. Thanksgiving will be a bit more colorful and “dressed up”.

Having an open concept home has many challenges, hello lack of walls! Where do you place furniture and hang things? Yikes… This is my biggest problem! I did have to scale back quick a bit from previous years since I have fewer rooms and therefore fewer places to put the “stuff”! Staying with the same color scheme is most important with an open concept. It brings a little more cohesiveness to the room and makes it feel less cluttered or confusing!

DINING ROOM/TABLE SETTING IDEAS

Decorating a table has always been my most favorite thing about the holidays. It’s the heart of your home and where everyone (and everything!) gathers. I’ve played around with several different ideas so far this year, so hopefully one of them will give you some inspiration for your own home. I really enjoy using natural elements on my tables. The little wreaths & pine cones are unexpected surprises to embellish a table. For centerpieces look for unique containers. I love using bread bowls, large metal baskets, crates & boxes are some ideas. This old carpenters box on wheels is one of my favorite finds and I couldn’t wait to pop some fun pumpkins in that baby! The small fabric pumpkins are from Target dollar spot!! I mean wow right? I made the larger velvet ones a few years ago and they were super simple to do!

Kitchen

We recently finished our kitchen backsplash. You can read about it here>> Update your kitchen back splash tile with bead board

I kept the decor simple and added a few natural elements, like greenery and wood to keep it consistent with the rest of the decor in the house.

MASTER BEDROOM

I don’t usually do much decorating for the holidays in our bedroom because I don’t want to feel crowded, know what I mean? Because our room is very soft in color and a bit more formal, I used some silver pumpkins and these gorgeous little velvet beauties I purchased a few years ago (they were a bit of a splurge but they were calling my name and I couldn’t let them down! The pretty pillow covers are from an Etsy shop called living with Amanda. You need to check out her darling handmade pillow covers for sure!

Bedrooms

Because my daughter’s room is pretty and shabby chic, I just added a pop of greenery and a cozy sweater blanket

This little attic guest room is so sweet. I wanted to just make it feel cozy so I added a sweater blanket, a few cotton stems and sweet little pumpkin on a tray. Small touches are enough to make it feel festive without feeling cluttered.

FRONT PORCH

Ok this is the worlds most awkward place to photograph! Our front porch is very narrow so next time, I’ll get a ladder in the yard and try to get a pic from the front! I prefer to add real pumpkins and plants outside and just pray I can keep them alive! It’s still too early for cornstalks here, but they will be appearing as soon as I can get my hands on some!

    • txbittons@verizon.net says:

      Hi Andrea,

I’ve had them for several years. They are from a home based business I used to sell for called Southern Living at Home. Unfortunately they are no longer around. Total bummer because I’d love more. You may be able to find them on Ebay or Craigs List?
Thanks so much for following along, I appreciate it so much!
