Spring 2019 Decor Trends

It’s almost time, I can feel it….little hints of spring are popping up and this girl is ready. One thing I love to do as a new season approaches is to see what things are trending. How can I add small touches of updates to my home to make it feel fresh without spending a lot of money. So in this post I’m sharing some things that are trending for spring…

As seasons change, it’s nice to make small updates to your home and wardrobe to make it fresh and for me it gives me a little “pep” . This years trends are all about Hygge, natural elements, bold patterns yet neutral patterns and soft color. Hygge is a danish term that basically means cozy & comfortable creating a feeling of contentment or well being. I think that’s the perfect motto for creating a home we love to live in.

I’ve shared examples and links to some of my favorite items….

1 Embellished Baskets-

Baskets in all shapes and sizes with fringe trim, color variations and unique shapes are great ways to add some fresh texture to your home an it’s also very functional as well. I love the trim on this basket and the shape is so different, a perfect piece to place in any room of your house.

2 Round mirror accents

Mirrors are always perfect for making a room feel larger and reflect the angles of the room, as well as picking up more light. The circle shape has found its way into the decor world in various sizes. You can replace your old rectangular mirror for this fresh idea to jazz up any room as well.

Here are 2 mirror options and I have both. I love the variety of uses they provide.  https://rstyle.me/n/c75gbecddip

3 Decorative Bar Carts

These fun carts come in so many varieties and can serve as entertaining pieces, coffee bars or storage in a bathroom. The possibilities are amazing. They come in so many shapes, colors and styles. This is one of my favorites because the gold color is also trending and adds a little sophistication to any type of decor.

4 Poufs

I think poufs are here fo at least another season. They add another element of texture to a room and provide more seating, or as a great spot to elevate your feet. They also come in outdoor fabrics and look great on a patio or porch. There are so many styles available but this one is one of my favorites

5 Floral statement wallpaper

Yay wallpaper has made a comeback and I’m loving it. Look for soft neutrals in muted floral or graphic prints. These aren’t your grandmas duck border… What I’m talking about are sophistication clean lined prints that function as a feature wall. You can also use them in the back of cabinets or entertainment centers. ANd, if you can’t commit, there are so many peel and stick versions that you can peel off when you are tired of it…brilliant! This print is one I have on an accent wall in my home and I love the pop and style it gave to our greatroom.

6 Artisnal accents such as vases & bowls

IMG_E5962

Pretty accents that look exclusively like they were made by hand by an artist. Unique textures, shapes and sizes or various vases, bowls and pitchers. Just adding one piece to a side table or kitchen shelf is enough to add that small update for spring. I love these pieces here.

7 Clean lined planters & stands

House plants are a huge trend to give that natural healthy feel to your home. These clean lined planters on stands have a more artisanal look to them and the simplicity of it serves as a great backdrop for any plant

8 Plants~faux or real, mostly larger leaved like fiddle leaf fig or snake plant

IMG_E5961

Plants add such a fresh, natural feel to your home and provide such a beautiful color to any home. They are the perfect accent for a neutral style as well as color. They bring in the element of the outdoors and give so much life to a room. If you aren’t a green thumb, start with a snake plant they are so easy to care for. Or, if all else fails, faux plants are so realistic these days. I love the larger scale of this fiddle leaf fig plant.

Pinks are the new neutral! Well at least they look great with neutral decor to add a soft pop of color without being to overbearing. Just a small accent pillow or two, a throw or even a vase is all you need to add that fresh color to your space.

10 Textured Pillows

Pillows are always the easiest way to add some new accents to a room. They add that cozy element to a room and just the color and styles alone can change the whole look of your styled sofa, bed or chairs. These nubby, heavily textured pillows with embellishments are everywhere and adding a few to your room would be all you need to change-up your current style.

11 Wood Accents

The look of would always adds so much warmth to a room. From vases to trays to bowls the options are endless.  Wood vases always look so beautiful with rich eucalyptus or olive branches in them. Adding some bowls or trays are a nice update to add to your kitchen as well.

12 Leather Accents

Leather is another one of those natural elements to add richness to a room. One of the biggest trends in leather is to switch out knobs or pulls on furniture or cabinets and add leather. A simple tray (added to a stylish bar cart) would be such a great update and so functional as well.

It doesn’t take much to make small updates. Just select a few of your favorites. These links should help you to get started, but you can also shop around. These were just some of the examples you can use.

So which trend is your favorite, I’d love to know? As always, if you have any questions, let me know. I love to hear from my readers so feel free to comment.

Happy Decorating!
