For this table I really wanted an elegant touch with spooky flare and when I put tables together, I love to have a theme. So my vision for this look was so fun to put together.

Place settings

Instead of a place mat, I used strips of gauze found in the first aid section of the store. Or you can usually find gauze in the Halloween section of many stores. I just cut squares(which wont look even) and placed them on the table. The gauze created a flowing, elegant look throughout the table.

Next I used black chargers to bring that strong pop to the other items on the table. A regular everyday dinner plate layered with a check napkin and these cute skeleton plates. I purchased these plates at Pier One imports in 2019 and unfortunately they are now out of business. However, any fun Halloween accent plate would work.

Next I tied the flat ware with a strip of gauze and attached a small skeleton I found at Michaels’ craft stores and laid it across the setting.

Special Accents

These wine bottles are so easy and fun for a table, mantel the kitchen and more. You can find labels on Etsy and even the craft stores to apply over the bottles label. I used some glitter glue to edge the label and then in pace of the cork, I added a stick with some spooky moss and tied a skeleton to the mouth of the bottle with a vintage black ribbon.

I also added some hanging cauldrons from the light fixture. Dry ice added to the cauldrons creates the best effect too. Candles are also added for ambiance when the lights are turned down. The gauze draped over the candlesticks also gives another element of texture and spookiness.

Centerpiece

The centerpiece is what makes this table so fun. I started with a large cauldron nestled into a black feathered wreath as a base then placed a piece of florists foam inside to give height for the scull. To conceal the foam I draped some gauze over it. Then I stuck branches into the foam as well as some orange cabbage roses. Next I added spiders on the branches to make them look like they are crawling from the skull.

Once you are ready to start your dinner or party, add your dry ice to get the smoke effect. Be sure to wear gloves when handling dry ice because it can burn your skin. Also it won’t store long in the freezer, it will dissolve quickly.

So what do you think of my haunting table setting? I love that the flowers add an unexpected “pretty” accent to dress it up. The bright flowers also give it some pop. I had so much fun putting this table together and it really was pretty easy. Many of these items can be found at local dollar stores and dressed up with some pretty details.
