Happy almost fall friends! As I type this on Labor Day it’s really hard to believe that summer is technically over (although the Texas heat thinks otherwise!) This year I am doing a slow and simple transition into fall. Since this is a long season and I love decorating for seasons & holidays, my concern starting early is that I will tire of it or be bored….So, this year I decided to do a few stages of my decor. Welcome to stage one and come take a tour for some early fall inspiration

I love everything about fall, the smells, the food changes, the events & the colors. In recent years because we’ve been in home transition, I kept things very simple and neutral. I love white pumpkins with neutral decor and I feel that with the soft colors, I don’t tire of it as easily.

This year I’m craving a little bit more color. Since I have introduced more wood tones into our home with the neutral tones and pops of black, I thought some touches of color would be a nice change. I’m not usually a fan of using orange in my decor, again because I feel like it limits me in my re-styling potential. Instead, I’m using the deep rich tones of browns, reds and more of a rusty orange.

 

 

When deciding on my seasonal decor, I usually start with some type of a floral arrangement or vignette. This gives me a feel for the color scheme I like and gives me a starting point for inspiration. Then from there, I look more at the textural aspect of what I want to add, such as plants, wood, fabrics etc.

 

 

For the mantle I started with some rich green eucalyptus and wheat bunches for texture. Then, I used some of the warm red toned leaf and acorn pics. I tucked in various sizes and shades of white pumpkins for that pop of white. To bring in my black accents, I used chunky black candlesticks and wrapped the wheat bundles with a wide black and white stripe ribbon. For the final bit of glamour, I painted some older pumpkins with copper craft paint. I wasn’t wanting to use traditional orange pumpkins and I love the shine and tones of these pumpkins in the combination of colors.

 

 

One more item I used for additional texture and some contrast were the antlers. I love the natural element they add to the arrangement and how they bring in another bit of the outdoors.

 

 

 

 

Another arrangement I created is this pumpkin succulent grouping. I started with an oblong dough bowl and tucked some various sixes of white pumpkins. Then I just tucked various sizes, shapes and colors of faux succulents. Be sure to place different sizes and shapes next to each other. I love how just a few of the deep orange-red tipped succulents give this arrangement a pop of color to coordinate with the other colors I’m using in the room

 

Candle sticks are a fun and easy way to add height to your pumpkins. Try using various heights with various sizes of pumpkins. I stuck with wood tones to keep the soft palette and natural tones on my theme.

 

 

 

 

For the table, I kept things easy for this post. I will be doing one post dedicated to just fall tablescape ideas, so stay tuned. In keeping with my neutral feel, I used a creme textured table runner to keep the base in line with the creme furniture throughout the house. I layered simple straw chargers and added galvanized chargers on top for another element. The black candlesticks and stripe napkins bring in those pops of black to make it all cohesive.

For the centerpiece, I used a round dough bowl, and wrapped garland around the base then tucked a galvanized pumpkin in the center. For pops of my color, I add a few sprigs of orange & white berries. I also treated the light fixture as a centerpiece by adding additional orange berry garland around the base.

 

 

In the kitchen, I used fresh fall florals and brought in a few of the white and copper pumpkins.  In my eucalyptus wreath, I tucked in a few prigs of wheat clusters and some white berries. Then I brought in more of the texture by adding more wheat bundles.

 

 

For the front porch I, starting early fall displays using some beautiful colored grass, then fall flowers and faux pumpkins. I will transition it further as pumpkins an cornstalks are available. The beautiful wreath is from Kirklands. I love the layered doormats and brought the black tones in starting with a larger check mat and the natural colored gather mat on top. love the tiny bit of orange to tie it all together.
